Personal Property Security Act (PPSA)

The Ontario statute governing security interests in personal property, including the registration of NOSIs against fixtures attached to residential real property.

The PPSA was the legal basis on which NOSIs against residential property were filed in Ontario. The 2019 amendments to the Act prohibited the registration of new residential NOSIs.

Pre-existing NOSIs remain valid registrations until discharged through one of the standard paths.
